Not only summer time is wedding time

For the third time, you frown and look at the weather forecast, but it's no use. The clouds with snowflakes just don't want to turn into a bright sun. Yes, it's winter and yes, you've been invited to a wedding this weekend. As if finding an outfit wasn't complicated enough in ideal weather conditions, cold and snow showers come into play at this time of year. But don't panic. Any outfit can be made suitable for sub-zero temperatures in no time at all - without losing any of its festivity.

Look cool without cold feet

Coat: First of all, the outdoor outfit. Even if you spend most of your time indoors, there is still the way to the church or the registry office as well as obligatory outdoor photos. The winter coat is a must. It goes perfectly with dresses, looks elegant and keeps you warm. If you can't part with your poncho at the moment, no problem. Choose a classy version that rounds off the whole outfit. Feel free to add colour accents and opt for a bright colour.

To avoid freezing in dresses, be sure to wear tights. Tights with 15 or 20 deniers tend to be too thin in winter, so it's better to choose an opaque version with 40 deniers or more. There is really only one rule when choosing tights. The tights should harmonise with the outfit. Grey or anthracite tights go well with a cocktail dress, while nude colours are more appropriate for a romantic floral dress. The classic is, of course, black tights, but make sure that the colour is picked up somewhere in the outfit.

Shoes: Coat. Check. Dress. Check. Tights. Check. But what shoes do you wear to a winter wedding? There are two options. Either you opt for elegant boots or ankle boots with a heel. If there is a lot of snow outside, make sure your shoes have enough tread. Or put on waterproof shoes for the outdoor part and change them for high heels later at the party. This way you are guaranteed warm feet outside and admiring glances from the other guests inside. Remember one thing above all. It's more important that they feel comfortable in your skin and don't spend the wedding struggling with the wrong footwear.

Outfit: When choosing a dress, make sure it is not too light or too warm. Delicate summer dresses are nice, but a little too airy for a winter wedding. It is best to follow the onion principle when choosing an outfit: simply put on several pieces of clothing on top of each other. Combine a coarse cardigan and a knee-length coat with your dress. Fluffy coats or faux fur boleros are also perfect for a winter outfit. Add a pair of matching gloves, maybe a hat or ear warmers (depending on your hairstyle, of course) and the cold can't touch you at all.
